MNKS is Shutting Down - Goodbye Everyone
Posted by: Keeby - 07-10-2017, 07:23 AM - Forum: Site Support - No Replies

Rather sad. I heard the news from someone on KRR.

This site truly changed my life. I would be a different person now if this place didn't exist. It was truly a great place, full of ideas and adventure. I'll miss it, but I suppose it's about time we moved on.

Meta Naito, Waddle Dee, Fubaka, Gsnail, etc.. Thank you all for contributing to this site. It was an honor to be here.

I will still check on here every once in a while. I am going to PM Meta Naito about something important, so there's that.

Please say your final goodbye here, if you see this thread. I want to know if anyone still checks here.

Good luck on your new journeys, Meta Naito!

Thumbs Up Spark the Electric Jester (Review)
Posted by: wiimaster101 - 06-24-2017, 07:51 PM - Forum: Fan Factory - Replies (1)

In recent years, a very prominent Sonic fan-game developer known as LakeFeperd (Best known for Sonic: Before the Sequel and Sonic: After the Sequel) has been developing his own original title, Spark the Electric Jester. Why am I bringing this up you ask? Well it is because...

This game is amazing!

If you are a fan of Sonic's fast paced platforming and the copy abilities of the Kirby franchise, this game is a must have. The level design fits the speed of Spark perfectly, and also compliments the use of his abilities. And the soundtrack, OH THE SOUNDTRACK! It is absolutely godlike. I'm sorry if this review was a bit short, but I'll let the trailer speak for itself.

If you want to buy the game, here's the link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/601810...ic_Jester/

I suppose this place has died off.

By the way, what happened to Meta Naito? Does he still plan on making guides for Kirby games?

This is Dracula Waddle, as seen on the Japanese Kirby Wikia, according to Google Translate.

Alternately, this character is known as 'The dragon waddeldy'.

Well done indeed. Blush

I thought I'd post this here for anyone who is interested in contributing Kirby fan art to a magazine which will be sold in both digital and physical form, with profits going to the Meals on Wheels foundation. Heart

The deadline for applications is on the 22nd of May this year.

  Are those feet, or shoes?
Posted by: Fubaka - 05-10-2017, 02:18 AM - Forum: Other Ocean - Replies (9)

I've always contended that Kirby's red feet are in fact his bare feet, but some consider those to be shoes instead. In the latter case, Kirby's feet under those shoes probably also resemble soft pink blobs, unless you adhere to certain memes...

My supporting evidence for the idea that those are his bare feet comes from the fact that:

  1. He's never EVER been seen taking them off in the games, even when going to bed
  2. When he's split apart by various villains, his copies also have the same type of feet
  3. In-game flavor text always refers to them as his feet, not his shoes.

What say you all? Are they feet, or shoes? If you think they are shoes, what evidence do you have to support that notion?

Does anyone else really not like My Nintendo?
Posted by: Soniti254 - 05-05-2017, 04:08 PM - Forum: Nintendo Nebula - Replies (4)

This is a bit of a rant on my part, but it's something that's really been annoying me for a while now and I'm wondering if others feel differently about it.

I used to be part of Nintendo's earlier reward program, Club Nintendo.  As I understand it, the rewards used to be some really cool stuff you could only get from those old rewards programs, like cool figures and such.  During their time as Club Nintendo, the rewards used to vary from nifty physical media, like decks of playing cards, pouches for your Nintendo DS, and other such things, to actually free downloads of games, usually an assortment of Virtual Console games that would change up every few weeks.  I used to get a few of my Virtual Consoles games from this manner.  Sure, the rewards really weren't all that great, and the more unique rewards were basically out of my range (that Game and Watch machine), but there were usually at least some things I could get and make use of.

Now though?  It's all junk I don't care about.  Rewards for those junk mobile games, that I can't play even if I wanted to as I don't have a smartphone?  Discounts (not even all that great discounts to begin with) towards digital games chances are you already have anyway?  The free downloads are a joke too; character themes for your 3DS?  Picross?  Flipnote Studio 3D (which they gave away to Club Nintendo members for absolutely nothing)?  PC wallpapers that aren't even anything really special?  I ended up getting some of those character themes solely because there wasn't anything of interest and I felt like I was only collecting these points for nothing otherwise.

I legitimately feel ripped off here, I have all these points I cannot do anything with, as there's nothing I want.  Seriously, I have over 2200 platinum points that I can't do anything with and 150 gold points I can't find any use for.  If Nintendo is only going to offer discounts, at the very least let me apply it to any purchase on the e-shop, not just on certain things most of the members of their reward program probably already have; it's kind of insulting.  It's not even like I could use those to gift stuff to friends, as it's all linked onto my account, so the only people who can use these rewards is me, myself, and I.  To put it bluntly, Club Nintendo may not have been all that amazing, but in comparison to My Nintendo, Club Nintendo blew My Nintendo out of the water.

So what do you guys think?  Am I just being cranky?  Or does anyone else legitimately not like the My Nintendo program?

[Spoilers] Concept Art and drafts for Planet Robobot
Posted by: Fubaka - 05-02-2017, 10:20 PM - Forum: Game Garden - Replies (4)

All of the images showcased in this thread came from the Japanese website for Planet Robobot. You can find it here, if you want to look for yourself: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/at3a/spec...port1.html

Here are some particular pieces from the reports that I found interesting.

First off, here are some concept pieces for the new Copy Abilities featured in that game; Poison, Doctor and ESP:

Note the last one on Poison looks an awful lot like the Beam Mage.

Next up is a very odd-looking early draft of what the Haltonian transformation might have looked like:

Next up, some early draftwork for Secretary Susie:

The one that looks like a cat is particularly interesting...

  [Forum Game] - Storytime Relay
Posted by: Fubaka - 05-02-2017, 08:36 AM - Forum: Mischief Marsh - Replies (13)

Welcome, soft pink denizens of Meta Naito.

In this thread, the goal is to tell a story. However, you can only tell it in three words at a time, before you pass the torch to someone else to continue it! The goal is to try to tell a coherent story from start to finish without deliberation between the storytellers.

Here are the rules so that nobody gets confused. If you break a rule in your contribution, your post will be deleted:

  1. Stories must consist of at least 10 unique posts.
  2. The player who starts the story is obliged to title it, and is the only one who can end it (this rule can be overridden if the starting player is absent from the game for more than 2 weeks).
  3. You may only tell the story three words at a time (not including punctuation).
  4. Once you have posted your part, you must wait for someone else to continue the story by posting their three words (unless the story is over).
  5. You may not dictate to the other players what they should add to the story, in any way, and you must work with what was added previously.
  6. The story should adhere to the general language and content policy of Meta Naito.
  7. Only one story may go on at a time. Do not start a new story right away if you were the one who ended the previous story.
  8. The story doesn't necessarily have to involve Kirby or anything else in the series, but ones that do are preferred.
For example, Player A can start a new story by posting something like this:

Quote:Kirby Buys a Lemon Smoothie - (story title)

Once upon a

Then Player B comes in and continues the story like this:

Quote:sunny afternoon, in

From there on, Player A or a new player can continue the story:

Quote:the Onion Ocean,

Eventually, Player A delivers the last part of the story, and ends it like this:

Quote:the Halberd sank.

The End

That should do it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in a response (or in a side note after your contribution).
